Photodynamic Therapy

It has been reported that NxGen Pharmaceuticals which supplies 95% of 5-ALA in Australia (the product used for Photodynamic Therapy) will no longer supply the photosensitising solution to beauticians to treat sundamaged skin.  The Therapeutic Goods Administration has also been called on to restrict 5-ALA use to doctors.  This has been as a result of concerns that use of 5-ALA by beauticians could disguise skin cancers and result in inappropriate treatment.
