Information on Vascular Laser
What is the V BEAM?
The V BEAM (Vascular Beam) is a flash lamp excited pulse dyed laser (PDL).
What is the V BEAM used for?
The V BEAM is indicated for the treatment of blood vessel problems notably:
Broken Capillaries For more information see Broken Capillaries
Rosacea For more information see Rosacea
Facial Redness For more information see Facial Redness
Vascular Birthmarks such as Port Wine Stains (PWS) For more information see Birthmarks – Port Wine Stain
Spider Veins
For more information see Leg Veins – Spider Veins
Scars especially red raised scars or red stretchmarks – For more Information see Scars
How does the V BEAM work?
The V BEAM delivers pulses of laser energy at a wavelength that passes through the dermis and epidermis and is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood vessels rather than by the surrounding tissue. The absorbed laser energy is converted into heat, causing coagulation of the target vessels, which are not subsequently regenerated. The pulse width used is long enough to produce controlled coagulation, but short enough to avoid thermal damage to the surrounding tissue.
