Treatment of facial ageing in the lower face
The ageing changes seen in the lower face affect the lips, chin, lower cheeks and neck. They are the result of years of recurrent facial muscle movement, sun exposure, gravity and the ag4ing process causing loss of bone and soft tissue volume and elasticity.
The changes include:
- wrinkles around the lips, jaw and horizontal neck lines
- loss of lip definition and volume
- the development of deep grooves beside the nose (naso-labial)
- and jaw(marionette lines) resulting in a tired and sad expression
Non-surgical treatments are available
- Wrinkle injections will lessen lip lines, elevate the corners of the mouth to reduce the so called “mouth frown” and improve the appearance of the chin. For more information see wrinkle injections
- Dermal fillers are used to enhance lip shape and definition and add volume to the deeper grooves between the mouth and the jawline to obtain a less aged expression. For more information see dermal fillers
- FRAXEL—the latest in Fractional Laser Skin Rejuvenation will lessen fine lines and plump up the skin by stimulating the development of new collagen and elastic tissue. For more information see Fraxel
- Peels, Microdermabrasion and prescribed Skin Products are simpler ways of improving skin appearance.
