Ageing and skin volume loss
We all know that time can take its toll on our skin.
Whilst repeated expressions can cause wrinkles as we age our skin also loses volume and elasticity.
This process occurs because natural substances in our skin (such as collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin) which provide structure and volume decrease with age.
Environmental factors such as exposure to sunlight, smoking and stress contribute to the loss of volume and cause wrinkles, folds and depressions.
Generic factors also influence the susceptibility and rate of volume loss.
In addition there may be a depletion of fat around the eyes, cheeks and forehead.
