Treatment for sweaty palms and sweaty hands
How can excess palm sweating be treated?
The 3 main types of treatment are topical antiperspirants such as DRICLOR, iontophoresis or microinjection treatment.
What is Iontophoresis?
Iontophoresis is a treatment that involves the topical application of ionised drugs into the skin using direct current. It probably works by blocking the sweat ducts by plug formation. It doesn’t always work well and it has limited application for areas such as underarms sweating.
What is microinjection technique?
This involves a series of tiny microinjections into the palm with a protein based product that blocks the sweat glands from producing sweat.
How long does it last?
Duration of effects generally average 4-6 months.
Are there side effects?
Main limitation is that many patients find the treatment uncomfortable and require some form of anaesthetic. There may be some slight bruising and rarely slight temporary reduction in grip strength.
